SOD OFF WINTER

JPEGWe stocked wood, we battered down the hatches and we bought in some delicious dark ales, but did winter really happen at all? There was a few chilly evenings but it seems that the worst is over. Maybe we’re speaking too soon, but it feels like the sun has well and truly come back to stay. It may be the quality of our last few months of entertainment and the crowds that have been coming down to see them, but we’ve had the fans on for the last couple of Saturdays! Well as much as we love the roar of the fireplace, the park out back is beckoning for a game of cricket or two, and if that was all winter could bring… then good riddance!

WEARABLE ART?

JPEGClancy’s has always been about art, why just look at the various paintings, sculptures and doo-hickeys that have adorned our walls over the years. But just how often do we wear art? Should art be merely something to admire from a distance? Something to cover a spacious wall? We say NO! The Wearable Arts Festival and parade is the brainchild of staff member Kate Louden, and invites attendees to not just come and see, but to become art themselves. Held on our Chet Leonard Bingo Night, Wednesday 11th August, everyone is invited to get creative, dress up as art and enjoy a night of humour, beer and prizes. Considering some of the amazing outfits Chet’s offsiders have adorned themselves in in the past we can’t wait to see what they turn up in for this event. Don’t miss out.
